Terms of Service
The agreement between you and 1in1m: what you get, what you may not do, and where you stand if something goes wrong.
Last updated 2026-08-26
1in1m is a wall of one million numbered spots. It is operated by Rabid Turtle Productions, LLC, and in these terms “we” and “us” mean that company. “You” means anybody using the site, whether or not you have bought anything. Using 1in1m means you accept these terms. If you do not, please do not use the site.
What this is for
1in1m is a game about getting seen, and it is also an attempt to build a very large group of people who can be pointed at a few good causes each year. We will ask you to give, and to share it with the people you know. Both of those are always yours to refuse, and refusing changes nothing about your spot, your number or your position on the wall — giving never buys position, in the same way nothing else does.
Buying a spot is not a donation and we do not describe it as one; it pays for the site. Everybody who claims a number is asked to confirm they have read why we built this, which sets out what we promise and what is genuinely not settled yet. It is there so that none of it arrives as a surprise later.
When there is a cause to talk about, it appears in your notifications on the site, and that is part of what holding a spot means. Email is separate: every optional email carries an unsubscribe link, and turning it off costs you nothing.
You must be 18
1in1m is for adults only. You must be at least 18years old to hold an account, buy a spot or upload a photo. We ask for your date of birth before you can claim a number, and a photo cannot be uploaded until that is on file. There is no route in with a parent's permission.
We take your word for your age rather than checking it against a document, so telling us you are 18 when you are not is a breach of these terms. Anybody — including people with no account at all — can report a photo that appears to be of a child, and a person reads every report. If we believe an account holder is under 18, we remove the photo and close the account.
Your account
There are no passwords. Your account is your email address: you ask for a sign-in link, we email it, and clicking it signs you in for up to 60 days. That means anybody who can read your email can get into your account, so keep it secure, and tell us if you think somebody else has. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
You do not need an account to buy — the email address you give at checkout becomes one. That address is what identifies you, and we treat variations of the same inbox as the same person, so plus-addressing or added dots will not produce a second account.
One spot per person, per country wall. A purchase that would give you a second spot on the same wall is refused before you pay where we can see it coming, and refunded in full where we cannot.
You can delete your account yourself from your account page at any time. It is immediate and cannot be undone: your photo is destroyed, your page goes, and your number returns to the wall for somebody else. Deleting your account is not a refund request — if you want your money back, read refunds, disputes and cancellations first.
We can end sessions, suspend an account or close it if these terms are broken. Sessions are held on our side rather than in a token, so ending one takes effect at once.
What you are buying
A spot is a number on the wall, a page of your own at 1in1m.com/face/ followed by that number, and the right to put your face there. Every price is set out on what you are buying.
Every purchase is one-off. There is no subscription and nothing renews. You will never be charged again unless you buy something else.
The spot is yours for as long as you hold it. Upgrades — extra page designs, more links, a colour of your own, a background — are add-ons bought on top of the number, and they attach to the spot rather than to you.
Position on the wall is earned by clicks and nothing else. You cannot buy clicks, rank or a place on a leaderboard, and no upgrade moves you up. Advertising and sponsor takeovers are the one thing money buys that is visible, and they are always labelled as advertising. If we ever allow numbers to change hands, click history resets on transfer: you buy the number, never the standing.
We may change prices, add things and stop offering things. A change never reaches back and alters something you have already bought.
Your photo, your page, your links
The photo must be of you, and you must have the right to use it. Putting up a photo of somebody else — a friend, a stranger, a celebrity — is not allowed, whatever the caption says.
You keep ownership of everything you upload and write. You give us permission to show it on 1in1m and in the shared links and preview cards the site generates, which is what makes the wall work. Separately, and only while you leave that setting switched on, you allow us to use your photo in our own posts and collages about the wall. That switch is in your account, and turning it off stops us using it again from that moment — exactly when that can happen is set out on social media. Everything about photos — including exactly how long we keep one — is on photos, consent and retention.
Your page can link to your accounts on the social platforms we support. You give us your username and we build the link; there is no box for a web address, and you cannot link to your own website or to any other domain. Links are not allowed in your name, statement or bio either. The reasons, and the full list of platforms, are on social media. We do not control what is on your profile once somebody follows the link, and we are not responsible for it.
What is not allowed
Do not post, upload or link to:
- Anybody else's face, or a photo you do not have the right to use.
- Anything involving a person under 18.
- Nudity, sexual content, graphic violence or gore.
- Harassment, threats, or content attacking people for who they are.
- Impersonation of another person, business or organisation.
- Spam, chain messages, pyramid schemes or unsolicited advertising.
- Anything illegal, or anything that infringes somebody else's rights.
- Personal information about somebody else — an address, a phone number, a workplace.
And do not:
- Use software, scripts, bots or click farms to inflate a score, or pay anybody to do it.
- Buy, sell or trade clicks, rank or leaderboard position.
- Create more than one account, or hold more than one spot per wall.
- Scrape the site, or reuse its content or images outside it.
- Attack, overload or probe the site, or try to reach data that is not yours.
- Cover up, hide or strip out advertising, or misrepresent what it is.
Clicks and fair play
Clicking is open. No account, no puzzle to solve, and no rule against asking your friends to click for you — that is the game, not cheating, and we would rather people shared a link than signed a form.
The rules matter where a click releases something real. A contest prize or a referral reward is checked by a person before it is paid or credited, and we can withhold, reverse or disqualify anything we believe was manufactured: automated clicking, paid clicking, or traffic that does not look like people. Rewards are calculated on our side, and a total shown on screen is not final until it has been paid.
Reporting, moderation and suspension
Every spot has a report button, and it works whether or not you have an account — the person most likely to report a photo is the person in it. Uploads also pass an automated check for unsafe content before they appear. That check answers one question, is this safe to show, and nothing more; it is not looking at who is in the picture.
When something is reported, a person reads it. We may remove a photo, hide a page, suspend an account, close it, or take a spot back. We aim to be proportionate and to tell you why, but we do not have to warn you first.
A spot taken back for breaking these rules is not refunded.
You can also block another spot. Blocking works both ways and hides personal detail in both directions. The face and the number stay visible, because the wall is public and removing a tile would tell everybody that a block had happened.
If something on the site infringes your copyright, write to support@1in1m.com with enough detail to find it — the page or the number, what was copied, why you own it, and how to reach you — and we will act on it.
Advertising and sponsorship
We sell advertising placements and site takeovers ourselves rather than through an ad network, and they are always labelled as advertising. We do not sell your personal information to advertisers, and there are no third-party advertising trackers on the site. What an advertiser says is theirs, not ours.
Things we cannot promise
1in1m is provided as it is. We work to keep it up and correct, but we do not promise it will be available without interruption, free of faults, or that anything you post will reach any particular number of people. We are not responsible for what other people post, for what is on the other end of a link, or for what happens between you and another user.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability to you for anything at all is limited to what you have paid us. Some places do not allow those limits, and there they apply only as far as they can.
You agree to cover us for claims brought against us because of something you posted, or something you did that broke these terms.
Where we are, and the small print
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Alabama, and any dispute goes to the courts of that state. 1in1m is operated from the United States, and today it sells to the United States.
We may change these terms. The date at the top of this page changes with them, and continuing to use the site afterwards means you accept the new version. If a change matters — if it affects what you have bought, or what we do with your photo — we will tell you directly rather than rely on you noticing.
If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands. Not enforcing something once does not mean giving it up. These terms, together with the privacy policy, the refunds policy, the promotion rules, the social media policy and the photo policy, are the whole agreement between us.
